Dvořák, Debussy, and Chaminade
Alice Tully Hall, Broadway 1941, 10023 New York, Manhattan
About
A concert evening of piano trios performed by six chamber musicians at Alice Tully Hall, lasting two hours with an intermission. It is presented by the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center. The program pairs Claude Debussy's early, Romantic-flavored Trio in G major with Cécile Chaminade's Trio No. 1 in G minor, both trios now increasingly heard in concert halls around the world. Chaminade composed more than four hundred works in the shadows of Brahms and Saint-Saëns yet inspired 'Chaminade Clubs' in the United States during her lifetime, and the evening closes with Antonín Dvořák's beloved musical farewell to his homeland, the 'Dumky' Trio.
