Fundraising Fundamentals

Fundraising Fundamentals is an online course on the basics of fundraising for people who want to serve a mission and create change. It is taught by Rita Walters, formerly Vice President of Development and Alumni Relations at Union Theological Seminary and a veteran of senior advancement roles at institutions including Johns Hopkins University and Washington National Cathedral. The course covers best practices and insider tips on connecting donors' passions to an organization's goals, spanning annual funds, major-gift pipelines, donor stewardship, and grant writing. It also explores, through authentic storytelling, how to answer donors' questions of why a mission is urgent and important, and whether generosity and philanthropy are the same moral practice.
