About
Halloween (1978) is the film where the indestructible Michael Myers makes his big screen debut and the American slasher is solidified, along with the careers of John Carpenter and Jamie Lee Curtis. On one Halloween night, little Michael murders his sister while his parents are out; after years locked in an asylum, he escapes back to the scene of his crime and terrorizes young babysitters and their dates in his modified William Shatner mask and a gas station attendant outfit. Directed by John Carpenter, it stars Jamie Lee Curtis and Donald Pleasence. Will Dr. Loomis make it to Haddonfield in time to save lives, and who will survive?

Critics
7.4Very good
Critics praise the suspenseful direction, camerawork and restrained violence. They fault the slow pacing, thin characters and heavy borrowings from earlier horror directors.
