About
I Guess It Was My Destiny To Live So Long is a transdisciplinary poetry series honoring the legacy of Brooklyn icon June Jordan. It is curated by Hanif Abdurraqib, a BAM Curator and MacArthur "Genius," now in its third year, and this year spotlights powerful voices from across the African Diaspora. The evening on offer pairs versatile composers and instrumentalists Meshell Ndegeocello and Samora Pinderhughes, who share a night of words and music under the series' banner. The program also includes Poetry Overnight at BAM, Southern Oracles by the Black Air Poets, Be Holding based on a Ross Gay poem, and Stones in the Water with Sarah Kay, Clint Smith, Anis Mojgani, and Abdurraqib.
