Family art hour: surreal creatures with Michiko Kon.

ICP Family Art Hour: “Whimsical Creatures” Inspired by Michiko Kon is a free family art session where families experiment with new techniques and make art together. Led by educator Xiana Garcia, the session draws inspiration from Michiko Kon, an artist featured in the exhibition I'm So Happy You Are Here: Japanese Women Photographers from the 1950s to Now, who creates assemblages using everything from fish and vegetables to flowers and insects. Participants create and photograph their own surreal still life with organic materials and objects in a mini pop-up studio. It takes place in ICP's cafe and is co-presented with Japan Society.
