About

A two-day in-person craft class and generative workshop on reading and writing poetry. It is led by Edward Hirsch, a MacArthur Fellow and prize-winning poet, and held in the Kunitz Conference Room on Poets House's second floor, with elevator access. Participants read startling poems in translation by poets such as Guillaume Apollinaire, Anna Akhmatova, Constantin Cavafy, Jorge Luis Borges, Zbigniew Herbert and Wislawa Szymborska, then write their own responses in poetry or prose as a form of responsive reading, becoming both better writers and better readers. All are welcome, though space is limited, and a limited number of need-based scholarships is available.
