About
Life & Debt: 25th Anniversary is a screening of Life and Debt, a feature-length documentary followed by a Q&A. Directed by award-winning filmmaker Stephanie Black, the 2001 film examines globalization's lasting impact on Jamaica. It traces how structural adjustment policies imposed by the IMF, the World Bank, and the Inter-American Development Bank reshaped the island's economy and society, and the consequences of debt, trade liberalization, and international economic intervention for Jamaican workers and farmers. The film offers a timely look at Jamaica's ongoing struggle for economic sovereignty and self-determination.
