About
Maria Schneider Orchestra performs at Birdland Jazz Club. The ensemble of 18 musicians is led by composer Maria Schneider, whose genre-blurring music has drawn praise as evocative, majestic, magical, heart-stoppingly gorgeous, and beyond categorization. Schneider and her orchestra have earned 7 GRAMMYs across jazz and classical, plus work with David Bowie, and in 2019 she was named an NEA Jazz Master. The week's lineup includes reeds players like Donny McCaslin and Scott Robinson, trumpeters, trombonists, accordionist Julien Labro, guitarist Jeff Miles, pianist Gary Versace, bassist Jay Anderson, and drummers Johnathan Blake and Rudy Royston.
