About
Mindfulness in the Galleries: Ikebana is a workshop that explores ikebana, Japanese flower arrangement, as a practice of presence alongside the museum's artwork. It is led by mindful ikebana teacher Anjie Cho, who has studied ikebana since 2015 and holds the rank of Level 11 Kako Assistant Professor in the Ikenobo School of Ikebana. Participants begin with a guided meditation and conversation in the galleries, then explore form, shape, balance and emptiness and create simple ikebana arrangements with seasonal flowers and branches as a moving meditation. No previous experience is necessary, all materials are provided, and advance registration is required.
