Sumi-e: Paint a Chrysanthemum at NYBG

Sumi-e: Paint a Chrysanthemum at NYBG offers short, hands-on Japanese ink painting workshops in which you paint a chrysanthemum with a traditional brush, ink, and paper. RESOBOX sumi-e teacher Kohfu Furukawa, a longtime instructor of Japanese ink painting, demonstrates every brushstroke in each 25-minute session held outdoors near the Nolen Greenhouses during The New York Botanical Garden's Kiku Highlight Weekend. No experience is needed, all materials are provided, and up to 30 people per session are admitted first come, first served. Admission is included with Garden admission, and a demonstration table lets visitors see her work up close between workshops.
