About

Native American Heritage Month: Indigenous and Colonial Cooking is an outdoor program by the hearth just north of the house, exploring cooking traditions in pre-colonial and colonial New York. It is run by the Urban Park Rangers and organized by Old Stone House & Washington Park. Visitors learn how Lenape, Dutch, and English foodways blended into the city's earliest culinary culture, discover seasonal ingredients, watch historic cooking techniques, and examine the Indigenous roots of American food traditions.
