RU Workshop: Direct Animation on 16mm Film. A workshop by Paola Guzmán Figueroa

A hands-on workshop at Residency Unlimited exploring direct animation on 16mm film, with no camera or darkroom needed. It is led by Paola Guzmán Figueroa, a 2023 RU alum, a Colombian visual artist and experimental filmmaker based in Finland who works with analogue film, photography and performance. Participants draw, paint, scratch and perforate 16mm film and intervene on existing footage, experimenting with images, textures, colours and compositions. The workshop ends with a collective screening on a 16mm projector; no filmmaking experience is required and all materials are provided.
