About

A screening of the documentary Scarecrows (Putnubiedēkļi), a visually composed tale of 'runway rangers' and their encounters with beings of nature. Director Laila Pakalniņa will be present for a film talk and Q&A. The film follows the bird and wildlife control specialists of Riga International Airport—nicknamed 'Scarecrows'—who guide viewers across four seasons in Latvia through a chronicle of the flow of work and nature. The airport is a paradoxical environment where different species cross paths, and fences built for humans cannot protect the lives of everyone and every kind.
