About
A documentary screening with a talk and Q&A, part of the 9th Annual New York Baltic Film Festival presented by Scandinavia House: The Nordic Center in America. 'My Family and Other Clowns' (Minu pere ja muud klounid), directed by Heilika Pikkov and Liina Särkinen, follows Haide and Toomas, a married couple with three children in a tiny one-bedroom apartment in a Tallinn suburb who are famous clowns known as Piip and Tuut, with one of their kids autistic. After 25 years entertaining thousands of children while their own kids grow up on their own, they reach a breaking point and must decide whether to keep juggling family and stage lives or give up their dream to save their family. Co-Director Liina Särkinen will be present for a film talk and Q&A; the film won the Special Jury Prize at the Doc@PÖFF Baltic Competition, Tallinn Black Nights, and the Cultural Endowment of Estonia's Annual Prize for Best Documentary.
