About
A screening of two films, both supported by the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation's program in Public Understanding of Science and Technology, with directors Kogonada and Noam Argov appearing in person. After Yang, directed by Kogonada and starring Colin Farrell, Justin H. Min, Jodie Turner-Smith, Haley Lu Richardson, and Malea Emma Tjandrawidjaja, follows Jake, who must come to terms with what the malfunction of his daughter's technosapien companion, the android Yang, means for his family; it is a sensitive and visually striking inquiry into what it means to be human. It is preceded by Verse, directed by Noam Argov with Taj Cross, Jesse LaTourette, and Will Dagger, in which seventeen-year-old Adam decides to meet his VR girlfriend in real life and must confront where his virtual persona ends and his physical self begins.
