About

Stake Land is a post-apocalyptic film screening at IFC Center. It was conceived as a webseries by writer Nick Damici and director Jim Mickle and made with the film company MPI/Dark Sky as an epic, heartfelt story. It was shot over the course of four months to capture different seasons. Producer Larry Fessenden calls it a Glass Eye Pix movie that anticipated later projects like The Walking Dead and The Last of Us.

Critics

6.5Good

Critics praise the film's atmosphere, cinematography, character development and fresh take on the tired vampire genre. They fault derivative, zombie-like vampires, an uneven tone, a low budget hiding key events, and routine post-apocalyptic elements.
