About
The Last Winter is a feature film by director Larry Fessenden, screening in New York City. He conceived it as a sequel of sorts to his family drama WENDIGO, expanding its themes of cultural cannibalism to Manifest Destiny and climate collapse, drawing on the Wendigo mythology of Ojibway origins. It stars Ron Perlman, James Le Gros, Connie Britton, Zach Gilford, Kevin Corrigan, Jamie Harrold and Pato Hoffma, and premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival. Fessenden says it continues his focus on the left-right political divide that makes solving problems impossible.

Critics
6.3Good
Critics praise the film's eerie atmosphere, suspenseful tone, and ambitious environmental themes, with strong performances and effective ambiguity. They fault thinly drawn characters, an underdeveloped ecological message, and a somewhat vague, imperfectly thought-out story.
