About
Escape the hustle and bustle of the city and step into history on a docent-led tour of the Library's landmark 1917 building, exploring the gallery and its architectural wonders. The New York Society Library offers these tours, which on some days focus especially on the Peluso Family Exhibition Gallery and its current exhibition, 'Collective Witness: A Library for a Young Country,' celebrating the United States' 250th anniversary and exploring how a public library and a nascent democracy converged in New York City. Tours run on the half hour, and visitors meet their docent guide in the first-floor public Reference Room, to the right as they enter. The event is open to the public and visitors can simply drop in.
