About
TROMA-GEDDON is a film series celebrating Troma Entertainment, the proudly low-budget and defiantly tasteless New York studio behind hundreds of over-the-top movies such as the TOXIC AVENGER series, CLASS OF NUKE ‘EM HIGH, SGT. KABUKIMAN NYPD, and CANNIBAL! THE MUSICAL. The retrospective marks the studio's 52 years, since its 1974 founding by Lloyd Kaufman and Michael Herz, whose catalogue now numbers more than 450 titles. It features recent restorations of Troma classics, rare screenings of deep cuts, 35mm prints of selected films, and in-person appearances from cast, crew, and Kaufman himself. Anthology previously honored Troma with a 25th-anniversary tribute in 2000, endorsed by Jonas Mekas, who saw in Kaufman the same transgressive, independent spirit as 1950s-70s underground cinema.
