True Refuge Week: Self-Directed Intensive Practice for MRO Students

True Refuge Week: Self-Directed Intensive Practice for MRO Students is a week of intensive Zen practice limited to formal training students of the Mountains and Rivers Order. Led by MRO Teachers and Senior Staff, it gathers a cohort of no more than nine students whose personal aspirations shape the week, with oryoki meals, morning caretaking, a meal crew, and daily zazen and liturgy. Beyond that the field is open: participants may study a sutra, sit intensive zazen outside of sesshin, take up art practice, keep silence or converse, forming their intentions together. It is offered as an alternative to sesshin and fulfills the student and ango sesshin requirements.
