2nd Philharmonic Concert: Gabetta plays Prokofiev.

The 2nd Philharmonic Concert is an orchestral evening forming part of the Prokofiev cycle. It is performed by the Orchester der Oper Zürich under conductor Gianandrea Noseda, with Sol Gabetta as cello soloist. The programme features Dieter Ammann's «Core» for orchestra, Prokofiev's Sinfonisches Konzert for cello and orchestra in E minor op. 125, and his Symphony No. 3 in C minor op. 44. The Third Symphony draws on themes from Prokofiev's opera «Der feurige Engel», whose dark atmosphere of delusion, incantation and the Inquisition clearly echoes in the C minor symphony.
