Gianandrea Noseda conducts, Sol Gabetta plays Prokofiev.

The Orchestra of the Zurich Operahouse performs in concert under the baton of Gianandrea Noseda, with Sol Gabetta appearing as cello soloist. The program includes «Core», a piece for orchestra that the Swiss composer Dieter Ammann created in 2002. Gabetta also takes on Sergei Prokofiev's Symphonic Concerto in E minor op. 125, built on the material of his earlier cello concerto that he reworked at the prompting of Mstislav Rostropovich. Prokofiev's Third Symphony rounds off the evening, still echoing the gloomy atmosphere of his opera «The Fiery Angel», which was never staged during his lifetime.
