Archiving the Universe II: Akteure, Zeichen und Ordnungen der Welt

The lecture «Akteure, Zeichen und Ordnungen der Welt» explores Islamic cosmologies, ranging from Quranic ideas of the world as creation and order of signs to spheres, astronomy, cosmographies, narratives and rituals. The speaker is Prof. Dr. Jamal Malik, emeritus professor of Islamic studies at the University of Erfurt. The programme was conceived by Lejla Delić and Rev. Dr. Tabitha Walther, who also moderates, with Rev. Kathrin Rehmat of Predigerkirche Zürich as host. Three examples – the Miʿrāj, Aḥmad Sirhindī, and Karbala and the expectation of the Mahdī – illustrate how cosmos, religion and human orientation intertwine; a break with warm soup is included.
