DIE KLEINE MEERJUNGFRAU

DIE KLEINE MEERJUNGFRAU is a theatre production at the Schauspielhaus Zürich at the Pfauen stage, rereading Hans Christian Andersen's fairy tale. Director Bastian Kraft stages it with members of the ensemble and stars of the Swiss drag scene. Underwater, as in drag, body boundaries and gender roles dissolve, while the little mermaid longs to rid herself of her fish tail. The fairy tale famously ends tragically, perhaps mirroring Andersen's own love he could never live.
