Stadthaus Zürich
Eintritt frei – Kollekte
About
A choral concert featuring the world premiere of the choral suite «Die Zürcher Petitionärinnen 1868» by Jean-François Michel. More than 50 singers of the choir Singfrauen Winterthur tell, in a multifaceted programme, of Zurich women who as early as May 1868 demanded fair inheritance rights, better education, and the right to vote and stand for election. The libretto is by Liliana Heimberg, who also appears as narrator; Franziska Welti conducts, with Marcel Lüscher on clarinets and Sven Angelo Mindeci on accordion accompanying the singers. With a welcome address by Corine Mauch and historical context from Elisabeth Joris and Monika Dommann.
