About
A choral concert featuring the premiere of the choral suite «Die Zürcher Petitionärinnen 1868» by Jean-François Michel. More than 50 singers from Singfrauen Winterthur, conducted by Franziska Welti, tell of Zurich women who in 1868 demanded fair inheritance rights, better education and political rights. Marcel Lüscher (clarinets), Sven Angelo Mindeci (accordion) and Marcello Mosca (percussion) join in, with Liliana Heimberg performing the libretto as narrator. Songs by and for women from Finland, Georgia, Italy, Mexico and South Africa frame the suite – a space for women's voices, honouring those who stand up for self-determination.
