About
A lecture event by the Volkshochschule Zürich on how Saint Francis is depicted in art. At its centre is Giotto's fresco cycle (c. 1290–1300) in the Basilica of San Francesco in Assisi, which has shaped the artistic and human image of the saint to this day. It also covers the countless depictions of later centuries, in which the stigmatisation was often at the centre. The question is to what extent art, alongside the transmitted texts, can deepen our image of the «Poverello».
