Things Are Going Down: Zumthor plays, Waldhauser detunes.

«Things Are Going Down» is a piano evening of a rather unusual kind at the Altes Krematorium Sihlfeld D. Behind Peter Conradin Zumthor's composition stand Zumthor himself as piano player and René Waldhauser as piano tuner. While the piano player performs a fast, repetitive rhythm, the piano tuner gradually detunes the grand piano, so that a constantly changing chord beyond equal temperament emerges. This brings to light music one would never suspect is slumbering inside the piano – highly energetic, beautiful, meditative and shattering all at once.
