About

A short film programme presents historical films that dive into different milieus and everyday life in Zurich neighbourhoods and document what has since disappeared through gentrification. The programme was curated by the Cinémathèque suisse, and film historian Seraina Winzeler gives an introduction. Four films are shown: «SOLIDARITÄT» by Robert Risler about a 1934 relief campaign for the unemployed, «ARBEITEREHE» by Robert Boner following an Italian working couple in Zurich's industrial district in the early 1970s, «FLUCHTKANAL» by Paolo Poloni about families driven out of district 5, and «DER KUNDE IST KÖNIG» by Josy Meier about drug-dependent sex workers in the Seefeld in 1991.
