Reading with Silvia Süess and Uschi Waser.

«Lesung und Gespräch mit Silvia Süess und Uschi Waser» is a reading and conversation at the Paranoia City Buchhandlung at Ankerstrasse 12 in Zürich. At its centre is the book «Reden, um nicht zu ersticken», which uses Uschi Waser's life story to show with what systematic cruelty the Pro Juventute foundation acted against families through «Kinder der Landstrasse» and what consequences this still has for those affected today. Between 1926 and 1973 more than 600 Yenish children were torn from their families; Uschi Waser was taken from her mother as a toddler and grew up in numerous institutions, where she experienced violence and humiliation. She fought tirelessly for rehabilitation and justice, and a legal expert report presented in February 2025 concluded that the persecution of the Yenish was a «crime against humanity».
