About

Markus Saile: False Horizon is an exhibition at Mai 36 Galerie in Zürich. It is the second solo exhibition there by Markus Saile, who was born in Stuttgart and lives and works in Cologne, and presents large-scale oil paintings on wood, some of them close to or beyond the scale of the human body. Green and yellow shape their own rooms while blue works set accents within an installation arranged in relation to the architecture. The title False Horizon names a perceptual disturbance in which a horizontal line is mistaken for the horizon, pointing to the search for references to reality within the paintings that cannot be verified with certainty.
