About

"Now Processing" is a lecture series held as the institute colloquium of the Kunsthistorisches Institut (Institute of Art History) at the University of Zurich in the autumn semester of 2026. Conceived and organized by Daniel Berndt, it explores how computational methods are reshaping research and knowledge production in art history. The lectures trace the evolution of digital art history, cover methods such as data visualization, mapping and network analysis, and ask how generative AI is transforming contemporary image production and how computational approaches may both reproduce and challenge Eurocentric paradigms. On 12 November, Leonardo Impett gives a talk titled "Robots Leaving the Cinema" on the concept of neural exchange value and how generative video systems turn visual culture into a space of accelerated machine simulation.
