About
A public lecture evening about the 'French heartworm' (Angiostrongylus vasorum), a dangerous parasite that also infects dogs in Switzerland. The talk is part of 'Science 2 Go', a public lecture series run by the Vetsuisse Faculty, with speakers Dr. med. vet. Nora Schreiber, Dr. med. vet. Natalie Hofer-Inteeworn (both small animal medicine) and Prof. med. vet. Manuela Schnyder (Institute of Parasitology). Together they will investigate why we must expect this parasite in the future, how sick dogs can be recognised and why the earliest possible diagnosis matters. They will also explore how the dangerous bleeding that can kill an untreated dog arises.
