About
"The Cost of Growth" is a documentary shown at the Films for Future Festival 2026 at Kulturpark. It questions an economic model built on constant growth and examines its social and ecological consequences. In Serbia, Italy and Sápmi, the film portrays communities whose livelihoods are threatened by economic interests and who defend themselves against exploitation and the destruction of their environment. It asks who profits from Europe's economic growth and who bears the consequences, linking local conflicts to the question of whether an economic system can grow permanently without harming people and nature.
