Writer in Prison: Yousri Alghoul
Literaturhaus Zürich, Limmatquai 62, 8001 Zürich
About
A conversation evening with the Palestinian writer Yousri Alghoul dedicated to authors imprisoned because of their work. On the occasion of the Writers in Prison Day, the German-Swiss PEN Centre turns its attention to writers whose freedom is at risk. Alghoul, who grew up in the Al-Shati refugee camp in the Gaza Strip, has been writing for almost two decades about everyday life under occupation – about hope and hopelessness, resilience and humanity. In conversation with Demian Cornu, interpreted by Zainab Lüscher, he speaks about writing in war and about the people in prisons and those who wait for them.
