About
A documentary theatre piece for children aged 9 and up, telling the story of a more than 100-year-old teddy bear nicknamed »Bär«. It is based on the memoirs of Irene Grumach-Shirun, written down by Jill Levenfeld, and depicts the life of a Jewish child under the Nazi dictatorship from the teddy bear's point of view. Using shadow play and sound, long-locked rooms come alive where Bär encounters beautiful and terrible moments, such as when the walls shook from bombs or when Irene's grandmother was deported. The piece was conceived by Josephine Hock, who also performs it, together with Luise Ehrenwerth, with Hannes Kapsch directing; the morning performance is followed by a discussion.
