About
„Berlin Brains: Wie der Kontext das Gedächtnis beeinflusst – bei Fliegen und Menschen“ is a lecture evening at the Zeiss-Großplanetarium, held entirely in English. Lisa Scheunemann, who leads an Emmy Noether junior research group at Freie Universität Berlin, and doctoral student Şevval Demirci study how the brain stores experiences in long-term memory. Using a combination of genetic methods, behavioural studies and imaging techniques, they analyse learning mechanisms in the fruit fly Drosophila melanogaster and what the findings mean for us humans. The event is accompanied by an exhibition of microscopic images showing the beauty of neurons and glial cells.
