About
"BERLIN JATZZT – JAZZ IN UND AUS BERLIN 1945 BIS 1970" is a homage to jazz and its musicians of the period from 1945 to 1970. Behind the project is Jörg Miegel, who presents it as his "Herzensprojekt" (labour of love). The band "Berlin Calling" plays original compositions by Berlin legends such as Johannes Rediske, Helmut Brandt, Manfred Burzlaff and Michael Naura, as well as pieces by musicians who enriched the city's jazz scene during their time in Berlin. Comparable to a revue, the programme is accompanied by readings of texts, picture projections, sound recordings and an exhibition of historic jazz magazines, posters and records, plus an invited contemporary witness reporting first-hand about the "old days".
