About
A concert evening at Jazzfest Berlin at Haus der Berliner Festspiele with three parts: first the trio Graewe / Jones / Drake, then singer ganavya, and finally the Globe Unity Orchestra. Pianist Georg Graewe, a key figure in German free jazz history, performs with drummer Hamid Drake and bassist Brad Jones; the evening also marks the trio's German premiere. ganavya, an Indian-American singer based in Berlin, blends jazz harmonies, flowing improvisation and South Asian devotional traditions. The Globe Unity Orchestra around pianist Alexander von Schlippenbach celebrates its 60th anniversary, for the first time with a four-hands piano piece between the bandleader and Aki Takase, plus a rare trombone appearance by composer George Lewis.
