Chiaroscuro: Musik für Streichquartett von Ligeti, Ustwolskaja und Schubert

The New York string quartet Brooklyn Rider performs at the Pierre Boulez Saal a program titled „Chiaroscuro: Musik für Streichquartett von Ligeti, Ustwolskaja und Schubert". The experimental ensemble explores the theme of light and shadow, bright and dark, presenting well-known classics alongside the unusual. Works by Galina Ustwolskaja and György Ligeti contrast with Hildegard von Bingen's 1000-year-old antiphon „Caritas abundat in omnia", which serves as a prelude to Schubert's great G major quartet, a masterpiece of musical chiaroscuro.
