Der Himmel über Berlin

The angel Damiel wanders through divided Berlin together with his heavenly colleague Cassiel, observing people in a black-and-white world. In search of feelings such as longing and passion, he dreams of the earthly existence that is reserved solely for humans. When he falls in love with the trapeze artist Marion, he ventures into mortality and experiences the world in new colours. Wim Wenders' 1987 masterpiece with Bruno Ganz, Solveig Dommartin and Otto Sander is considered a classic of German auteur cinema and has won several international awards, including the Golden Palm for Best Director at Cannes in 1987.
