About
The documentary "Frauen in Berlin" shows relaxed, unprompted conversations with women from different (East) Berlin milieus, mostly in the kitchen, about care, having children, work, housing and love in the GDR. Shot in 1981, the material only survived because it was secretly taken from the film school, projected onto an improvised screen and filmed onto VHS. Behind the film is the Indian director and film student Chetna Vora, born in 1958 in Palitana, who studied at the film school in Potsdam-Babelsberg. The recently restored version is shown in the presence of Neelesha and Lars Barthel with a partly live musical score by Tara Leiberg.
