About
The screening presents the feature film „Fitzcarraldo“, an epic set in the Amazon jungle about an obsessed dreamer who wants to build an opera house in the middle of the wilderness. It was directed by Werner Herzog, who in his fourth collaboration with Klaus Kinski depicts the story of a great dream in grandiose images. Kinski plays Brian Sweeney Fitzgerald, known as Fitzcarraldo, with Claudia Cardinale cast as the brothel owner Molly. To reach a rubber region, the eccentric has a old steamship dragged over a mountain by Indians using muscle power.

Critics
7.6Very good
Critics praise the audacious, ambitious staging, stunning jungle imagery, hypnotic lead performance and music. They fault repetitious, overlong shots and a weak supporting performance.
