Die andere Seite
About
„Die andere Seite“ is a pandemic drama by Mariko Minoguchi, showing here as a premiere followed by a talk with lead actress Nina Hoss, the director and further members of the film team. Hanna, a doctor infected with a deadly virus, loses her family and, before she can be interned in a quarantine camp, flees into the solitude of the Alps. When she meets Lila (Precious Mariam Sanusi), a young woman likewise cast out by society, the two set off together for the south, where a life in freedom still seems possible. Against a rugged mountain backdrop, the film tells of flight, freedom and experiences of boundaries.

Critics
7.5Very good
Critics praise the lead actress's performance, the tense atmosphere and the moving plea for humanity. They fault the sparse plot and the deliberately unclear, slow opening that keeps viewers guessing.
