Die drei Leben der Hannah Arendt
Deutsches Theater, Schumannstraße 13a, 10117 Berlin, Mitte
About
"Die drei Leben der Hannah Arendt" is a world-premiere theatre production staged in the Kammer of the Deutsches Theater. Based on the graphic novel by American cartoonist Ken Krimstein and directed by Theresa Thomasberger, the play traces Hannah Arendt's life: from Königsberg and her studies under Heidegger and Jaspers, through 1920s Berlin and Parisian exile, to New York, shaped by the wars and totalitarian regimes of the twentieth century. Her major work "Elemente und Ursprünge totaler Herrschaft" made her famous overnight in 1951, and her 1961 reporting on the Eichmann trial sparked a controversy. The production follows her thinking as "Denken ohne Geländer" – freedom in thought was her highest good.
