Dore Jacobs - Bewegung spricht
About
„Dore Jacobs - Bewegung spricht“ is a documentary film essay about the reform pedagogue Dore Jacobs (1894–1979), who understood the movement of the body as an expression of freedom, dignity and community. The film by Gerburg Fuchs follows her life through the upheavals of the 20th century, from her childhood in a liberal Jewish family in Essen via the reform movement in Hellerau to persecution under National Socialism and the resumption of her work after 1945. Previously unpublished archive material and historical places combine with present-day images in a cinematic search for the traces of an extraordinary idea. Dore Jacobs herself, companions and contemporary witnesses report on their experiences.
