Feldman 100: For Philip Guston

About
A concert by Klangwerkstatt Berlin, the festival for new music, featuring Morton Feldman's monumental work »For Philip Guston«. Marking the composer's 100th birthday, Erik Drescher (flute), Richard Putz (percussion) and Mikhail Mordvinov (piano/celesta) perform the roughly four-hour composition of 1984, moderated by Leonie Reineke. Dedicated to the painter Philip Guston, the piece was a musical monument to a decades-long friendship that broke apart over differing artistic views. Music of radical calm and floating repetitions invites a new perception of time; visitors may bring flat mats to lie on.
