About
Focus Japan is a special programme focus by the Berliner Festspiele dedicating their anniversary year to Japan's performative and musical arts. The Berliner Festspiele present it in partnership with the Japanisch-Deutsches Zentrum Berlin, with the Volksbühne am Rosa-Luxemburg-Platz as cooperation partner. Its contributions are spread across Musikfest Berlin, the Performing Arts Season, Jazzfest Berlin and MaerzMusik as well as a project developed for public space. Among the works shown are the Kanze Nō Theatre, Damien Jalet and Kohei Nawa's „Planet [wanderer]“, Dumb Type's „2020“, Akira Takayama's „What If Berlin“ and the Otomo Yoshihide New Jazz Quintet.
