Redupers – Die allseitig reduzierte Persönlichkeit is a feature film by Helke Sander, who also plays the lead role. It tells the story of Edda, a single mother and freelance press photographer torn between everyday life and work, striving for fulfilment both in her private life and her career. Together with a women's photography group she is commissioned to create a series of pictures of Berlin, and the project's result becomes a personal view of the constraints, ruptures and possibilities of life in the divided city. Sander's feature debut brought feminist perspectives into the cinema of the 1970s, with divided Berlin standing as an emblem of a society divided in many ways.
