About
"Mein Berlin - ein Ort mit Gedächtnis?" is a film offering an artistic and journalistic approach to the uncertainty that many Berlin Jews have experienced since October 7, 2023. It portraits six Jewish people living in Berlin without showing their faces; the renunciation of identifiability is both a protective measure and part of the artistic concept. The camera stays close but never revealing, observing movements, gestures and living spaces, showing apartments, workplaces, family objects and favorite places in the city. At a time when antisemitism is becoming visible and more radical again in Germany, the film looks not only at those affected but also at the majority society – at its reactions, withheld empathy, distance and silence.
